The Sunset Weddings Spring into Weddings

An overview of our favorite weddings hosted at The Sunset Weddings by Gulf Drive Café for Spring Season 2018
Spring is a popular season to get married in, the weather is bright and sunny, and the temperature is just right. Each weekend in March, April, and May there were 2-3 weddings with us at Gulf Drive Café. Hosting a beach front ceremony and reception adds to the magic of a beautiful spring wedding. It’s the sensation that summer is almost here, and we can look forward to the sunny and warm weather coming our way. We have selected a couple majestic weddings from our past spring season that we would love to share with you.
Tori and Jason kicked off the spring wedding season on March 3rd, 2018. Tori created our Sunset Tiki Hut into a tropical rustic scene with homemade driftwood pieces and table numbers on her tables and large palm plants in front of the tiki poles. The additional foliage of small ferns in front of her
Driftwood Arch and sweetheart table brought the entire look together. It was a great combination of wood and plants for a tropical tiki vibe. You really felt as though you were in the heat of summer surrounded by a jungle. This is one of the most uniquely decorated weddings done this spring. The happy couple are local from Sarasota and come to Gulf Drive Cafe for date nights on occasion!
Jennifer & Daniel continued the March weekend weddings on March 10th, 2018 come rain or shine! This couple and wedding party was a perfect example of “Keep Calm and Tiki On”. The weather that day may not have been the best for a beach wedding, but it didn’t stop them. Jennifer was set on having a beach front ceremony and she got it! Mother Nature must have known to pause her rain until the couple finished their “I dos” because that is exactly what happened. A large and beautifully decorated reception still took hold under the tiki hut even with the grey skies and drizzles. This couple gets are “Party On Prize” because nothing could’ve ruined their special day.
Jessica & Corbin are locals to the area that utilized the beautiful white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters in their backyard to celebrate their matrimony on March 24th, 2018. They had family from all over the world come and share the celebration with them. Jessica created her own décor center pieces and had a great mythical ocean theme going on.
She had beautiful heavy iron mermaid bottle openers to give to her guests as favors.
The photographer was just as creative with adding special effects to some of their shots with the bridal party to keep up with the theme.
The Sunset Weddings are happy to celebrate couples from all over the world, not just the locals. Annabel & Ben came all the way from the UK to tie the knot on April 6th, 2018. Anna Maria Island is a special vacation spot for them and their family. They figured the stunning seaside would be a perfect
back drop for their ceremony. Annabel & Ben had a beautiful decorated reception with linens and florals intertwined with sea shells and starfish to create an elegant beach look under the Tiki Hut.
Annie & Jerry are a local Tampa Bay couple that shared their love story on April 14th, 2018 with their close family and friends from all around the country.
Jerry handcrafted a fun sign admiring all the various locations their
guests were traveling from. The couple continued the beach themed fun as beach balls were thrown in celebration of the energetic couple tying the knot. This couple gets my “Merry Marriage Badge Award”,
they were fun and pleasant to work with. Creating a laid back and fun environment for all to part take in.
Barbara & Davis celebrated their love story that started decades prior to their matrimony. They finally tyed the knot on April 22nd as their family and friends cheered them on Philly style. Not only did they celebrate under the Sunset Tiki Hut but also Honeymooned at the Hut throughout the week.
Barbara & Davis live in the area now, but are originally from the Philly area.
Barbara said it best as she put on her Philidelphia Eagles Heels “you can take the girl out of Philly, but you can’t take the Philly out of the girl”.
Eagles chants could be heard throughout the night to add to the cheering and awwing of the fun and energetic couple
Ally & Matt were high school sweethearts that united their love on April 28th a beautiful day at The Sunset Tiki Hut. The couple had a variety of fun things to offer for their guests to keep the entertainment going all night long. From the SnapWagen photo booth, to fun desserts and beverages.
The couple originates from the St. Louis area and come to Anna Maria Island for vacationing. They thought it would be the perfect place to host their wedding, and we are glad that we were a part of it!
Marci & Bryan had a double celebration on their special day by creating a Cinco de Mayo themed Wedding with vibrant florals and cactuses scattered under the Sunset Tiki Hut.
They even included a piñata over the dance floor for all to swing at! The New England couple came down here for a getaway with their family to unify their marriage with sombreros and maracas. Their décor didn’t disappoint with fun Mexican themed baskets, and signs, along with a Taco Bar for their guests to enjoy, oh and you can’t forget about the Margaritas!
Ending our marvelous May Weddings we had Victoria & Michael tie the knot on May 12th. These two lovebirds flew all the way from Germany to celebrate with close family and friends that are local to the area. Victoria and Michael vacation on Anna Maria Island when they can and love the Gulf Coast beaches, which made for a perfect backdrop for their ceremony. There reception was complete with food, drinks, and dancing the couple made the most of their time with family before they took off across the seas back to their home with a final thank you, “Vielen Dank”.
